Picture This: Week 52, 2016.

Obligatory prelude: I've done a picture-a-day project for the past couple years. I usually debate its continuation annually, but it was a no-brainer this year.  This series keeps me posting when nothing else will write itself.  I will be trying to post more regularly otherwise! Besides, as last year, I like it as a part of posting the ordinary and capturing daily life. Check out past posts through the picture-a-day tag.

December 19, 2016

I'm back in the blood business.

December 20, 2016

A long night of chatting, cheese plates, and ladylock making yielded no pictures but the drying pins after the process. It's one of my favorite traditions.

December 21, 2016

Yoga all the time to help move me through this season.

December 22, 2016

Presents from my little furbies.

December 23, 2016

I woke up from a nap to find Copper reading over Zach's shoulder.  They're the sweetest sometimes.

December 24, 2016

Fresh squeezed orange juice.  Two and half bags of oranges later, Zach outdid himself on brunch and set himself up for a tradition.

December 25, 2016

Christmas in Michigan is so much about this fireplace.  My grandparents built their house - and this fireplace with stolen rocks from state parks, if my uncle is to be believed - and we woke up many mornings to the stockings my grandma knitted us overflowing on the mantle.  Holidays in a house full of memories, full of laughter and shouting, and everyone full on too much food - it's so much of what I love.

December 12, 2016

Simple wrappings.

December 13, 2016

The holiday reception at Playhouse Square included watching Christmas in Connecticut.  It was hilarious! We're old-time movie converts.

December 14, 2016

It turns out we only have woodland and tropical creature cookie cutters.

December 15, 2016

With our basement under renovation, and furniture on top of furniture upstairs, we opted not to decorate this year beyond our outside lights.  Zach swung for a baby pine this week, and we selected a few ornaments from our travels to decorate.  Later this spring, we'll plant him.  I think this is the start of planting our trees.

December 16, 2016

Christmas celebrations begin with Veronica's go-to 90's pose, and the new addition perched on her shoulder.

December 17, 2016

Phipp's at Christmas is amazing.  I haven't been here in years, and snagged lots of ideas I hope the deer won't eat.

December 18, 2016

Steph stopped to visit Copper and fix his beloved scratching post, completing his Christmas present.  The heart eyes from that boy were so literal.

December 5, 2016

The metro got some futuristic cars in my leave.

December 6, 2016

DCA at Christmastime is my favorite.

December 7, 2016

Henry looks so cuddly when she sleeps.  Her dreams are all the sweeter under our new art.

December 8, 2016

Copper kept literal tabs on me Thursday, a paw on me most of the day.

December 9, 2016

Our friend makes the best pizza.

December 10, 2016

Creeping on our own house and loving the Christmas lights.

December 11, 2016

She's done it.  She's finally killed the butterfly.

Picture This: Week 49, 2016.

November 28, 2016

In the winter, the kittens like to tuck in the curtains, catching both the heat vent and the window.  I love the little tails and paws that lurk out.

November 29, 2016

Soup for days.

November 30, 2016

Winters are for afghans by grandma.

December 1, 2016

Maybe the best and most perfect looking cookies from dear friends - don't they look store-bought?? So perfect and delicious.

December 2, 2016

A quick run down the National Mall, complete with a stop at the National Christmas Tree.

December 3, 2016

Holiday party at the Smithsonian National History Museum!

December 4, 2016

I missed a picture of brunch on Sunday with our aunt, uncle and cousins.  We're so lucky that between our travels, we'll see nearly all of our family this month.  Afterward, we continued being touristy and strolled through Arlington National Cemetery.  The view back to DC is incredible from the hill there.

November 21, 2016

Girls night, represented by cheese plates.

November 22, 2016

Pie crust prep.

November 23, 2016

Arlo, the miniature version of our dear Fluffy, came into our lives just as she passed.  Welcome to the family, little kitten.  Rest in peace, Fluffy.  Happy sad.

November 24, 2016

Thankful for so much - for spending time with family, for living close enough to do so, to be able to drive home at night ahead of a weekend of basement work with families so willing to jump in and help.

November 25, 2016

These two were troopers with all the work over the weekend. They snuggled in to comfort each other on Friday, hiding from the noise and dogs.

November 26, 2016

Lights! Lights! It's such an accomplishment.

November 27, 2016

After three long days of basement work, Henry was over it.  She had such sass on Sunday, the streak on her spine almost permanently up throughout the evening.  Cranky girl refused to go to bed, and just yelled at us.

Monday, November 21, 2016

Picture This: Week 47, 2016.

November 14, 2016

Defenses against maybe the loudest hotel.

November 15, 2016

Another week in another hotel bathroom.

November 16, 2016

We visited the Dallas Cowboys stadium for a celebratory event during training.  It's very large.  Very, very large.

November 17, 2016

Flights at nights.

November 18, 2016

I forgot.  Completely, totally - forgot.  We went to dinner and ice cream with friends, were home and to bed early after a long week.  Maybe snuck part of an episode of The Crown? I can't fully remember.

November 19, 2016

Ian and Meg are engaged! It was such an honor to be a part of their day.

November 20, 2016

 Bedtime routines.

November 7, 2016

Hotel life is the best and worst.  Late night snacking in bed with the TV is one of the perks.

November 8, 2016

This picture is very strange to me now.  Walking back to the hotel after a later night at work, I saw the flag and felt so hopeful for our country.  It's been a personal rollercoaster as the results of the election were the opposite of what I expected.  Here's hoping social change will not be defined by the leader elected.

November 9, 2016

Copper bopper.

November 10, 2016

We turned to a documentary about cats - The Lion in your Living Room - to distract from the week.

November 11, 2016

Finding Neverland was the second play in our series this year.  It's the story behind the writing of Peter Pan and was very interesting!

November 12, 2016

A quick swing through Pittsburgh to tie up some business.  I'll need to stop back for a steadier picture - I love the Heinz building.

November 13, 2016

 Fur babies.

October 31, 2016

It was my first Halloween at the houseWe did get some trick-or-treaters, but the real star was the baked brie that I didn't set on fire.

November 1, 2016

Morning necessities.

November 2, 2016

Copper was the original cat to play whack-a-cat under the covers, but hasn't come running to the snap of fresh sheets in a while.  He did on Wednesday, then curled up for a nap like a human.

November 3, 2016

Back in DC for work, walking for groceries and loving all of it.

November 4, 2016

It's been on my list to try for years: We the Pizza did not disappoint.

November 5, 2016

I caught up with friends on Saturday, and only took a picture of my empty uber after the driver popped out for an errand.

November 6, 2016

DC in the fall has to be one of the prettiest.  Okay, all fall is the prettiest.
