Picture This: Week 48, 2015.

Obligatory prelude: I've done a picture-a-day project for the past couple years. I debate its continuation annually, but I like it as a part of posting the ordinary and capturing daily life. Check out past posts through the picture-a-day tag.

November 23, 2015

A Himalayan salt candle has to be one of my favorite impulse buys yet.  Thanks, Annie!  I'm totally buying into the calming energy.

November 24, 2015

It was an epic night for pie baking, as Jenny and I made five in preparation for Thanksgiving celebrations.

November 25, 2015

One of our goals this year was to paint a lot of the upstairs, but for guests not to have to comment that it smells like paint when they arrive.  Last year, I finished painting minutes before arrivals. We hadn't intended on including the guest room in that list, but I'm so glad we did - the paint worked wonders in there.

November 26, 2015

We day tripped to Pittsburgh for Thanksgiving with my family, joined by 8 puppies my sister is fostering.  This picture was taken during games, not dinner. They are the cutest little chubsters.

November 27, 2015

I finished the cushion for the wingback on Friday.  It's wonky.  The cats approve, but it's going to need to be worn in a bit before the less than perfect lines look intentional.

November 28, 2015

We hosted Zach's family on Saturday.  It was a lovely dinner (only messed up the mashed potatoes!) followed by catchphrase (I'm too intense).  We're so happy so many were able to attend and are really getting into this hosting gig.

November 29, 2015

Lazy Sunday.

November 16, 2015

According to Zach, clinching the playoffs a month before playoffs is a big deal.

November 17, 2015

Finding a giant crack in the windshield is one way to start the morning.

November 18, 2015

I had no idea that windshield repair was as easy as it was: I called, scheduled, and the next day they were in my driveway, sawing out the old one.

November 19, 2015

Night watch.

November 20, 2015

New York, grand as always.

November 21, 2015

Reunion weekend in NYC with some of my oldest and closest.

November 22, 2015

Seriously probably the prettiest sunset I've ever seen.

November 9, 2015

I've struggled with paper towels.  I've always thought them wasteful, but having no alternative, I've been  resigned to stop fighting them.  That, and I love this holder.

 November 10, 2015

Our first Cavs game of the season!

November 11, 2015

Nearly stepping on a dead bird in your bare feet is quite a way to wake up in the morning.

November 12, 2015

With weeks to spare to Thanksgiving, and with significant help from my mum, we're tackling the guest room. Henry loves having the mattresses in the living room.

November 13, 2015

My life eerily mirrored Posh's life before, but this is a new level.

November 14, 2015

Henry, again, fitting herself perfectly.

November 15, 2015

It was ambitious, and my hands are covered in blood and blisters, but I recovered my first wingback chair with my mum.  This is an in-process shot.  I finished Sunday night, with only the cushion to make.

November 2, 2015

Running in shorts is not something I'm accustomed to in November, but I like it.

November 3, 2015

Tuesday was one of the longest days, involving four different states.  I started in Virginia, was in DC for work, traveled through Maryland to West Virginia for recruiting before finally returning to Alexandria at just about midnight.  Bed.

November 4, 2015

My first mussel experience with the foodiest of foodies.

November 5, 2015

Zach returned home Thursday, just in time to snap a preview of the furbs.

November 6, 2015

Home.

November 7, 2015

Copper was very happy to have his mom visiting over the weekend.

November 8, 2015

I played with the shelves, probably for a collective hour, on Sunday, because I am a very exciting person.

October 26, 2015

Exactly a week after my mum's tour of DuPont, I took the same tour and gathered some factoids.  Did you know the sons of the Turkish ambassador started Atlantic Records?

October 27, 2015

There's no turning back now.

October 28, 2015

Hotel workout and toes in need of attention.

October 29, 2015

The city commute with Halloween preparations.

October 30, 2015

I really enjoy a walking commute when in DC.

October 31, 2015

It eerie how similar this etching from the Korean War Memorial looks like my Grandpa and his dog, King, whom served in the war.  We need to look into verifying.

November 1, 2015

A little Georgetown stroll and self-tour of Kennedy locations.  This is the house John and Jackie shared during his presidential run.
