Picture This: Week 28, 2014.

Last year, I started a picture-a-day project with the new year. My intent was and is to try and appreciate every day, the good and the bad. I'm posting weekly recaps of the past seven days. It's a fun way to recap the week, and keep me motivated for the next week. By throwing it up to the interwebs, it's a not so subtle reminder to myself that if I'm laying around all week and taking pictures of my feet poking out of a blanket as I watch Netflix for the millionth time, I'm going to bore everyone to sleep. Not that I care, guys. That being said, it's rarely ground-breaking, but I couldn't handle that anyway. It's a log of my life, and a gentle reminder to myself that life is a gift and I should take advantage every day. I don't want to get preachy. If you do this, I want to know so I can nose around. In the least creepy way possible. You can start anytime, too - a new year doesn't have to start on January 1. Steph created one mid-year. Veronica does this as well, but I'm losing faith in her ever updating her blog. Check out my past weeks through the "picture-a-day" topic link on the right.

I decided to post this today instead of my usual reading. I didn't read too many articles the past week, partly due to the honeymoon and party due to the only thing Zach wanted to discuss was Lebron's return to Cleveland. Plus, pictures are more fun, especially when all are out of the normal routine.

July 6, 2014

Monday was the start of the honeymoon with plane delays to start, making our super short layover even shorter. We sprinted between terminals and made all of our original flights, literally being one of the last people on that plane.

July 7, 2014

Hiking the Matanuska Glacier was one of the highlights of the trip. It was incredible.

July 8, 2014

We had a weather day on Wednesday, meaning that our flight seeing plane was canceled for bad weather. We shopped around before hitting some nature preserves and tried the ice cream. It wasn't mind-blowing, but I'm assuming that's because we were in the tourist trap area. We learned Alaska's residents consume the most ice cream per capita!

Thursday was our day in Seward, or on the Pacific as we tried to spot whales. It was another terrible weather day with the rain never stopping, so we didn't make it to the ocean. The bay offered lots of wildlife, including sea otters, sea lions, and puffins, so it wasn't a total bust.

July 10, 2014

We drove up to Denali, or more specifically, Healy, on Friday. Taking advantage of the 24-hour light, we took a 3 mile walk at 9 PM. That's Zach holding up a 9 to indicate what time it is. It was so insane.

July 11, 2014

We took the park bus through Denali on Saturday and spotted so much wildlife, including this caribou that trotted past the bus. Grizzlies, moose, eagles, and pika were also in the mix.

Denali is the only national park with a working sled dog team, and you're allowed to meet them! I loved this, and apparently Nuna loved me.
