Picture This: Week 4, 2014.

Last year, I started a picture-a-day project with the new year. My intent was and is to try and appreciate every day, the good and the bad. I'm posting weekly recaps of the past seven days. It's a fun way to  recap the week, and keep me motivated for the next week. By throwing it up to the interwebs, it's a not so subtle reminder to myself that if I'm laying around all week and taking pictures of my feet poking out of a blanket as I watch Netflix for the millionth time, I'm going to bore everyone to sleep. Not that I care, guys. That being said, it's rarely ground-breaking, but I couldn't handle that anyway. It's a log of my life, and a gentle reminder to myself that life is a gift and I should take advantage every day. I don't want to get preachy. If you do this, I want to know so I can nose around. In the least creepy way possible. You can start anytime, too - a new year doesn't have to start on January 1. Steph created one mid-year. Veronica does this as well, but I'm losing faith in her ever updating her blog. Check out my past weeks through the "picture-a-day" topic link on the right.

January 20, 2014

Henry has mastered the grumpy cat face and we couldn't be more proud.

January 21, 2014

After three weeks in Detroit, I came home and was surprised with Zach's new-found crafting skills. Seriously, he tied that bow after finding that ribbon all by himself. I'm more delighted with that than with the flower.

January 22, 2014

Dad stocked me up with more Denby pottery after his last items came off the boat.  I'm excited for the possibilities of little pies.

January 23, 2014

This sweet boy really missed me while I was gone. I woke up to him spooning my head and staring at me lovingly.

January 24, 2014

Two months after moving to Cleveland I had my first day of work in Cleveland. The office view isn't bad at all.

January 25, 2014

Wedding planning continues with ring shopping. Oh, the expense and toil that comes with having a unique ring.

January 26, 2014

Baby boy wasn't feeling well this morning, so we snuggled in pajamas.

January 13, 2014

I fully regret this picture. It's meant to show my sad state of affairs- working long enough that you get the clean toilets in the morning and at night. In retrospect, having a picture of a public toilet is gross. Using that picture are the first in a series is even more gross.

January 14, 2014

The snow looks pretty at night.

January 15, 2014

I'm over the effect of snowfall: snow covering cars, roads, everything. I'm not feeling this, Midwest.

January 16, 2014

My first hotel laundering experience made me feel so very fancy.

January 17, 2014

My sister makes me laugh with her double-entendres. It makes the suffocating wedding-planning process much more enjoyable.

January 18, 2014

I love Valentine candy season, specifically these raspberry hugs.

January 19, 2014

I hate busy season for the double computers, the number of posts I have in draft but no energy to finish, and a long list of things.

January 6, 2014

After a difficult drive in the latest snowstorm, I made it to Detroit in time to gawk at the bachelor, discuss the crazies with my former roommate, and dine on room service.

January 7, 2014

Work informed me that I wouldn't be allowed to leave for much of January. This is an example of something that would have been nice to know before I arrived, as it necessitated buying more underwear, for example. I'm still very bitter, but it's good to know the fur babies are on my side.

January 8, 2014

Steph made me gloves for Christmas, and besides helping with the negative temperatures, they really help to make winter more bearable.

January 9, 2014

Elevator selfie. I apologize.

January 10, 2014

I visited Grandma and her Christmas village Friday night. I love that she puts this up, and I love her stories for each business and all the little figurines.

January 11, 2014

On Saturday, I visited my Aunt Tina for a tutorial on boutenierres and corsages. We finished them all for the wedding! Now if only we could find an alternative venue.

January 12, 2014

I tried what claims to be Detroit's best pizza. It's definitely delicious, but so far my only Detroit pizza, so I can't compare further. The midwest is definitely winning in pizza since my move, though.

Picture This: Week 1, 2014.

I enjoyed this last year, and the tradition stayed alive over the holiday break as I rarely knew what day it was.

December 30, 2013

I'm holding onto Christmas a little longer than usual this year. The holiday came and went so quickly that I feel like I missed the moment, so I'm grasping onto sweet sleeping Christmas kitties as long as I can.

December 31, 2013

In the wee hours of New Year's Eve, we finished the first coat on our bedroom walls. It feels so good to have a color somewhere in the house.

January 1, 2014

My sister texted on New Year's Day that Best Buy had iPhones for $125. I'd been holding out on my upgrade, but the price had dropped enough for me to grab the gold phone.

January 2, 2014

The new year brought my first serious snowstorm in years. A foot of snow fell in a day - so much that you can't tell there are two steps down to the patio out there.

January 3, 2014

Zach's brother Ian came in for the weekend. The first night, we enjoyed a nightcap at the bar- a party that Henry couldn't miss. Zach pulled a stool over for her, relegated me to the side so that she could sit in the middle, and Henry jumped up to hang out.  She's a character.

January 4, 2014

We toured Great Lakes Brewery on Saturday, along with sampling some pub exclusive brews. I greatly recommend (it's free) and the pub serves awesome pretzels made with the brewery byproducts.

January 5, 2014

I am pumped about this furniture makeover. I took Mum's wood varnished fish tank stand (which hasn't been used as such in years, so maybe we'll call it a sideboard) and painted it with some rejected dark green paint from Ace ($10 for a gallon!) and highlighted it in bright green from a sample pot on sale at Lowe's ($3!). It'll look even better once that window is trimmed in white.
